Cartoon & Caricature

Cartoons were originally preparatory drawings for paintings and tapetries. Today a "cartoon" is generally in reference to humorous illustrations, in print and animation alike.

Caricature art on the other hand, is generally a portrait that exaggerates or distorts the likeness or essence of a person or thing while creating sn easily identifiable visual likeness in either a complementary or an insulting manner.

Editorial cartoons often blend caricature with cartooning.
