Blue actually instills a calming effect in the human body. Blue can slow pulse rates, as well as depress appetites. It is the most popular of colors. People are more productive in blue environments.
Blue is symbolic of peace, tranquilty, calmness, trust, loyalty, reliability. Blue is a typical business color for these reasons, however some shades of blue denote coldness, depression. It's a very cultrally diverse color. In China it's associated with immortality. In the Middle east blue is a protective color, whereas its the color of Krishna to Hindus, and is symbolic of holiness to Jews.
