Purple is a color that stimulates the brain in problem-solving tasks. Purple, if careful used, can add an air of mystery, of wisdom, and of respect. Because purple is rare in nature, it can often appear artifical.
Purple has traditionally denoted royalty, wealth and sophistication due to the expensive dye purple required. Today however, purple is an exotic color, very trendy with creative types. It is representative of spirituality, transformation, enlightenment and ceremony. On the flip side, purples may imply cruelty, arrogance or mourning.
Purple is a secondary color. It's complementary color is yellow. Purple's analogous colors are red and blue.
