Expressionism

Expressionism was originally a pre-World War I cultural movement originating avante-garde primarily in Germany, initially in poetry and painting, giving a subjective, worldview perspective—distorted to evoke strong emotional effect. The expressionist artist focuses on the emotional reality, rather than the physical reality.

Today expressionism is presented in many art forms, including painting, literature, theatre, dance, film, architecture and music. Angst is a very typical attribute of expressionism.
