Folk art is or representative of art produced from working class or peasant class indigenous cultures. In contrast to fine art, folk art is more decorative than purely aesthetic. The nature of any folk art is specific to its particular culture, thus is not influenced by movements in academic or fine art circles. Folk art expresses cultural identity by conveying shared community values and its aesthetics.
