Modern art consists of most artistic works produced in the time period from the 1860s to the 1970s, as well as replications of the art styles from this period including abstract art, impressionism, pop art and more, whereas art since is often related as postmodern or contemporary.
Modern art is an art style steeped in experimentation, often casting aside past traditions for sake of seeing anew. The Romantics, Realists and Impressionists were the pioneers of modern art and this way of thinking. Post-impressionism and symbolism followed suit, soon followed by Fauvism, Cubism, Expressionism, Futurism and Surrealism. Late modern art included Pop Art, Op Art, Psychedelic Art, and art from Minimalism to Photorealism, as well as new art forms such as Land Art, Body Art and Performance Art.
