Photography, or "drawing with light" as its Greek roots imply, is an art form originated in the early 19th centurybut not accepted as a fine art form in the US until such advocates as Fred Holland Day (1864-1933) pressed photography as fine art. Until recently, photography as an art form incorporated using hazardous chemicals and darkroom techniques to process film and develop creative prints.
Today however in the the digital age, digital cameras can capture and deliver wonderful images right out of the can. Computer programs as Adobe Photoshop or Corel Painter can enhance, manipulate or explore digital images in any number of ways allowing artists to focus on creativity sans laborious and tedious technical procedures.
