Post-Impressionism Art

Post-impressionism is an extension of impressionism but without the self-limitations imposed by impressionists. Though post-impressionists continued to use vivd colors, distinct brush strokes, and common, everyday subjects, the postimpressionists were inclined to express with geometric forms, distorted forms and unnatural or arbitrary colors.

Pointillism—of which Camille Pissarro called "scientific Impressionism"—arose in this post-impressionism period, as did Fauvism and Cubism.

The Gallery of the Arts is currently developing this Post-Impressionism Gallery.
